Finding a hotel in Hong Kong that’s both affordable and well-located is genuinely one of the harder parts of planning a trip here. The city has no shortage of options, but the trade-off is almost always the same: great location means a steep price tag, and budget-friendly means you’re either in a tiny room or a neighborhood that adds 30 minutes to every outing.
After a lot of research, I landed on the Burlington Hotel in Wan Chai – and after a 3-night stay, I can say it’s one of the smartest picks you can make for value in this city.

The Burlington sits right in the middle of Wan Chai – one of Hong Kong’s most connected neighborhoods. You’re a few MTR stops from just about everything worth seeing, and the streets around the hotel are lined with local restaurants, convenience stores, and a tram stop within a block.

Why Burlington Hotel Stood Out
There were three things that made Burlington the clear choice:
✔ Unbeatable location – Wan Chai MTR Exit B1 is literally a 2-minute walk. After a long day out, being able to step off the train and be in your room in minutes is genuinely valuable.
✔ Price point – At $80–120/night, Burlington offers a level of cleanliness, service, and location that’s hard to match in Hong Kong at this price. The city is expensive; this hotel is a legitimate exception.
✔ Cleanliness and service – Multiple recent reviews highlight the same things: spotless rooms, daily housekeeping, and front desk staff who actually go out of their way to help. The hotel also accommodates early check-ins when rooms are available, which is a huge bonus after a long-haul flight.
At check-in, a deposit of 2,000 HKD is required by credit card (fully refunded within 10 days of checkout). Standard procedure – nothing to worry about.

Honest Room Review
Let’s set expectations correctly: the rooms are small. This is Hong Kong – that’s not a surprise, and it’s not unique to Burlington. What matters is how well the space is used, and here it’s done well.
The room includes:
- Queen-size bed with pillowtop mattress
- Flat-screen TV with cable
- Desk and vanity area
- Wardrobe
- Mini refrigerator
- Soundproofed walls and blackout curtains
- Private bathroom with separate shower stall

The bathroom was a highlight – more spacious than expected, excellent water pressure, and thoroughly clean. The shower stall is large enough to feel comfortable, which isn’t always a given at this price point in this city.
One practical note: a large suitcase will be tight to open fully in the standard room. Keep out what you need and store the rest – it’s manageable for a 3–4 night stay.
Higher floors come with solid city views, and the room itself is quiet despite being on a busy road – the soundproofing does its job.

Getting Around: Transit Access
This is where Burlington genuinely earns its keep. Wan Chai is one of the best-connected stations on the MTR, and from the hotel door you can reach:
- 🟢 Central – 5 minutes by MTR
- 🟢 Causeway Bay – 3 minutes by MTR
- 🟢 Tsim Sha Tsui – 15 minutes by MTR
- 🟢 Airport (HKG) via Airport Express – easy connection at Hong Kong Station
Airport Bus A11 also stops directly in front of the hotel – a convenient and affordable option straight from HKG on arrival.
The tram stop is one block away, and the surrounding streets have constant taxi and bus access. You will not spend time wondering how to get somewhere from here.

Who Is Burlington Hotel Best For?
Burlington is an ideal fit if you:
- Want to maximize time exploring – not commuting from a distant hotel
- Are traveling solo or as a couple
- Treat your room as a comfortable base, not a destination
- Want cleanliness and service without paying five-star prices
It’s not the right pick if you need a large room for a family, or if you’re looking for on-site dining and resort-style amenities. For everything else, it delivers.
